Exchanges - FREE

If you would like to exchange any items in your order, we are able to offer a free postage label once per order. If the item you would like in exchange is out of stock or unavailable, you can exchange for any item of the same or greater value, or we can process a refund. In the event of a refund, our normal returns policy will apply; £4 will be deducted from the refund for the cost of the postage label. If you are exchanging for an item of greater value, you will need to pay the difference and our Returns team will contact you to arrange this. Click here to generate your free postage label for an exchange.

Alternatively should you not wish to wait, you can place a new order for the desired replacement and return the unwanted Good(s) for a refund. We acknowledge that this might seem more complicated, but this is the fastest way to ensure that you receive the goods you require.

Any returns sent back requesting an exchange will be refunded in line with our returns process.

Orders placed using Klarna cannot be exchanged - if you wish to change items on a Klarna order, you will need to place a new order and return your original item for a refund. Should you wish to return Klarna orders using our postage label service you will receive a payment request for £4, which will need to be paid in full before we can process your refund. Should you wish to avoid this delay, you would have to source your own returns postal service.

Refunds - £4 per Label

If you are returning your item(s) for a full or partial refund then we will deduct £4 from the amount refunded as payment for the label if used. Any returns sent back requesting a refund will be refunded in line with our returns policy. Please scroll down to see how to return unwanted items. Knives & Axes can NOT be returned using this service. Knives and axes can only be returned using Royal Mails Click & Drop whereby you will have to select the age verification service which you are required to do by law before shipping bladed objects. Royal Mail will not accept knives or axes over the counter, it must be done online.

International Returns

For international customers returning goods you MUST mark the parcel and returns form as a "Return" in order to correctly avoid customs charges. Should you encounter customs charges upon the entry of your parcel into the UK we will not be responsible for paying these and your goods will be returned to you. In most cases the courier will not refund your postage costs. If you are returning an item from outside the UK, you are responsible for the postage costs.

For Faulty/Damaged or Incorrect Orders

Please do not return items to us before receiving confirmation to do so.

Please make sure to read information on Faulty/Damaged items below.

We offer convenient returns on orders to the UK (Mainland Only) through Royal Mail. This is available ONCE per order. To use our convenient returns label you will need to have access to a Royal Mail Post Office. If your returned parcel is over 61cm x 46cm x 46cm then you may be unable to return it using this method and additional charges may apply if you wish to continue. If you are unable to access these options (or if you would simply prefer not to) then you are welcome to return the order using your own shipping method. Please ensure the service you use corresponds to the size/weight/value of the item. We regret to inform you that we cannot be held responsible for returned goods that become lost or damaged in transit. We therefore strongly recommend that you use a recorded/insured delivery service and keep a record of this and track your item.

Extended Christmas Returns

We offer an extended Christmas Returns Policy from the 07/10/24 to the 07/01/25, we like to make Christmas Shopping a little easier at Crib Goch Outdoor. So orders placed after the 07/10/24 which are returned before the 07/01/25 will be entitiled to a refund should all other criteria be met as detailed here and on our Terms & Conditions.

How to arrange your return?

For Unwanted/Exchanging items:

Before returning your item(s) make sure to read the below checklist. Orders placed using Klarna cannot be exchanged. If you wish to change your item you will need to place a new order and return your original item for a refund.

1. Make sure you received the item within the last 28 days (if returning outside our Extended Christmas Returns Period).
2. Check that the product is in its original condition from when it was purchased. This includes product tags and any product packaging that came with it.
3. Print, complete & include in your parcel the Returns Form. If you do not have a printer please use this as guidance when writing your return note.
4. Package the item(s) carefully using appropriate protective packaging. DO NOT tape or stick to the product box as this needs to be resold.
5. For UK Returns using our Returns Label - Create your Royal Mail Label Here. If your parcel is not within the size available you will have to source your own returns service. If you do not have a printer, use the link above to create a Royal Mail label, and then show the QR code on your phone at the Post Office. (Please Note; If you're finding Royal Mails website not working try clearing your cache folder or use a different browser, if that doesn't work just call our customer service team on 01286 870 777, they can create a label on your behalf)
6. For International or UK Returns NOT using our Returns Label - Please use your own method (we are unable to cover the costs incurred).
7. Either take your parcel to the Post Office, or book a Royal Mail Parcel Collect pick-up by clicking here.
8. Please note that at this stage (before the item(s) are received by us) you are responsible for the item(s) and therefore we recommend that you carefully package the item(s) and purchase any relevant insurance from the courier (if not using a returns label from us).
9 We will aim to confirm receipt of the item(s) within 2 working days of receiving them. If it is possible, we will also confirm the refund/exchange at the same time.

For Faulty/Damaged items:

1. Locate your receipt of purchase of the goods (either the email or physical receipt).
2. Contact us at your earliest convenience by either emailing customerservice@cribgochoutdoor.com or phoning us with details about your faulty/damaged item(s). We will provide a Returns Form for you to fill in and send back to us at your earliest convenience.
3. We will then contact you and inform you of the next stage. DO NOT return items to us before receiving confirmation to do so. We will provide a FREE returns label if we require the item back. We will NOT refund your returns postage if you decide to send the item back using your own method unless confirmed before you send the item back. We may need to contact the manufacturer/supplier before reaching a decision, in which case we will advise you, this can take up to 14 days with some suppliers.

Returns Contract

We are unable to handle and inspect returned items unless they are clean and dry due to Health and Safety regulations. This is in particular reference to Outdoor Clothing and Footwear. This clause is in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations you have the legal right to cancel your order within 14 days of receipt of your goods (with the exception of any made to order items). You do not need to give us any reason for cancelling your contract nor will you have to pay any penalty. However, you will need to notify us if you wish to cancel your contract, and you then have 14 days to return the goods to us, at your own cost and risk.

You cannot cancel your contract if you have removed any sealed packaging on a product or purchased goods that are non-returnable. Non-returnable items will be stated on their respective product pages. Confirmed Non-returnable items include: Personalised or Special Order items, Underwear, PPE (including climbing equipment).

Helmets can only be returned if the special instructions (included with each helmet) are followed. Helmets must be returned in a box (in addition to their own box) which must be well-padded to prevent damage during transit. Helmets will not be accepted for return if they are returned using inadequate packaging.

If you have received the goods before you cancel your contract then (unless purchasing non-returnable items for which you do not have a right to cancel) you must send the goods back to our contact address at your own cost and risk. If you cancel your contract but we have already processed the goods for delivery you must not unpack the goods when they are received by you and you must send the goods back to us at our contact address at your own cost and risk within 14 days from the date that you tell us you are cancelling your contract.

Once you have notified us that you are cancelling your contract, any sum debited to us from your credit card will be re-credited to your account as soon as possible within 14 days from when we receive the goods back, provided that the goods in question are returned by you and received by us in the condition they were in when delivered to you.

If you then do not return the goods delivered to you, or do not pay the costs of delivery, we will be entitled to deduct the direct costs of recovering the goods from the amount to be re-credited to you. On receipt of the goods and after inspection we will credit you the amount you paid for the goods. Please note that for International orders, a refund will be given on the goods purchased only and NOT the shipping cost.

For international customers returning goods, you must mark the parcel and customs form clearly as "Returned Goods", in order to correctly avoid customs charges. If for any reason customs charges are incurred upon the entry of your parcel into the UK we will not be responsible for paying these, and your goods will be returned to you. Boot and Shoe Fitting Guide

The best way to be certain you've chosen the correct fitting footwear that suits your intended use and th frequency you intend to use them is to pop into one of our stores, either in Llanberis or Beddgelert and be fitted by one of our trained team members.

For some of you that may be a little far to travel so we will provide you the second best option too; The following is a simple step by step guide to buying the correct fitting hiking boots, walking shoes, trail runing shoes, wellies or any other footwear intended for walking, hiking, running or just bimbling about in the outdoors.

What you probably have and will need to proceed:

  1. A piece of A4 paper
  2. A pen or pencil
  3. A floor and aflat wall
  4. A ruler or tape measure
  5. Someone to help you

What you need to do is easy:

  1. Slip on the socks that you intend to use with the footwear you have selected - If you're not already a hiking sock convert we can't stress enough the importance of ditching your thin cotton socks in favour of some proper hiking socks.
  2. Place the A4 piece of paper on the floor with one end flush against a wall
  3. Stand on the A4 paper with your heel against the wall and your foot pointed forward with the edge of your big toe aligned with the edge of the paper.
  4. Draw a line just in front of your big toe - this is where you would benefit from having some help, i fell over trying this step by myself!
  5. Measure the distance from the wall edge of the paper to the line you drew
  6. Repeat the process for the other foot
  7. Finally, check thelongerof the two measurements against the table below to find your size, it's normal to have different size feet.
  8. Repeat steps 1 through 7 if you intend to carry a heavy weight as this can cause your feet to spread and increase in length and width.

NOTE: Sadly the above table is only a guide since manufacturers can't agree on an industry standard. Each have their own opinion as to which UK size relates to which EU size.

This method will however give you the ability to make an informed decision as to which size would best suit. You can go one step futher by cross referencing your measurements with the sizing information of whichever shoe takes your fancy on our website.

We want you to be 100% happy with your choice so once you have received your chosen footwear please take the time to do the following simple tests to be sure that they are the right size and that they fit the rest of your foot correctly. But most of all; that they are comfortable.

Test #1 - The Length Test

  1. Carefully remove the removable insole from your chosen boot or shoe.
  2. Put the insoles on the floor about shoulder-width apart.
  3. With your hiking or running socks on, stand on the footbeds making sure that your heels are right to the back of the heel cup, as they would be if you were wearing the footwear.
  4. You should now be able to see approximately 2 cm (about an index fingers width) of the footbed poking out in front of your toes.
  5. Remember if you intend to carry an amount of additional weight, water, snacks, layers, first aid kit etc etc, be sure to do so for this test.

Pass this test and you are pretty much on the way to making sure that your boots or shoes are the correct size. This space between your toes and the end of the insole ensures that you will not knock your toes on the inside of the boot when you descend. This can be excruciatingly painful as it could happen every step of your descent. If you can’t see this amount of space then it’s a good bet that the boots will be too small and that's a fail, download our returns sheet which can be found on our returns page.

Test #2 - The Heel Lift Test

This equally easy test will show you if the shape of the internal heel cup matches your heel to ensure it holds you securely, which is especially important when ascending steep ground. Movement here can lead to the dreaded heel blister.

Before you commence this test it is essential that you have laced your boots or shoes correctly.

  1. With your socks on and foot in the boot/shoe tap your heel so it’s as far back in the boot as possible, be sure to keep your foot at a right angle to your leg at all times during the next few steps.
  2. Make sure that the laces have no slack in them across the forefoot by starting at the front of the boot and working the slack backwards and to the top. You should just be able to squeeze theend sectionof your finger under the laces, not easily, but just about.
  3. If you are wearing shoes then ensure the last upper part of the lacing is tight, not overly tight you don't want to cut off your circulation, but certainly comfortably snug as this will hold your heel back in the heel cup and will reduce any excess slipping (If you are wearing boots, this will be the eyelets that sit just below/inline the ankle).
  4. Please also make sure when trying out boots that you use all the lace hooks, don’t be tempted to leave the top one undone as your foot needs to be held as intended; securely right in the back of the boot.
  5. Now that your boots are done up properly stand up on your tiptoes and walk on the spot on the balls of your feet as if you are walking up a steep hill. If your heels lift more than approximately 5mm from the footbed you may need to pull the laces tighter, if you're having to over-tighten them then the boots may just be the wrong shape for you.
  6. Proceed to the next test if you pass or download our returns pdf.

Test #3 - The Toe Wiggle Test

This test is designed to check whether you have enough room around your toes. Your toes mustn't be cramped, they need plenty of room to wiggle without being squashed together, from the sides or in from above. However they don’t want to be roaming around in acres of space either, this will cause friction blisters and stability problems when traversing hillsides. So, again with the boots done up properly, walk around your house and make sure that your toes can wiggle unhindered.

Test #4 - The Home Test

Even after the most thorough assessment and testing, there is no better way to be absolutely sure than to have the boots on your feet for an extended period of time to see how comfortable they are. We therefore suggest you stomp, trod or plod around inside your home. This gives you the opportunity to see how they feel before you venture outside. We recommend that during the Home Test that you wear the boots for at different times of the day, with and without your rucksack packed for an adventure, wear them up and down stairs, when moving around and when resting. If you've got this far and you've passed then you know what's next, sling your pack on your back and step out into the wilderness. If you're not happy and can comply with the particulars on our returns form.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: During the Home Test we insist that the boots are worn indoors only. All footwear must be returned in a new and perfect condition with the original packaging and a proof of purchase. We retain the right to refuse to refund or exchange any footwear that shows any sign of being worn outside.

Let's end on a high note; I've you've passed we'll see you out there and be sure to leave us a glowing review, if you've failed to find your perfect fit, lets try on another pair. You may need a different size, you may have a footshape that doesn't fit the brand a freind has recommended, whatever it may be we can help so either pop in or get in contact via phone, live chat or email.
